When I tried to attach a picture to an email message in Outlook Express,
McAfee interrupted with the message: c:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe McAfee has automatically blocked a buffer overflow. I had to allow this in McAfee before I could attach the picture. When I look at the McAfee log the API column showed: Kernel32.GetProcAddress Any suggestion as to why the buffer overflow occurred would be welcome |

Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer
of protection that eats up CPUs, slows down sending and receiving, and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for lose of messages. Your up-to-date A/V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more, see: http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 If that doesn't do it, get rid of McAfee. I would suggest either Avast, (freeware), or NOD32, (not free). In the case of Avast, choose Custom Installation and under Resident Protection, uncheck: Internet Mail and Outlook/Exchange. Norton, and McAfee, products are not Outlook Express friendly, and I don't know of any OE-MVP that would recommend using them. Avast: http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html NOD32: http://www.eset.com/ -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "Davidw" wrote in message ...
