There is one person from whom I receive e-mails, and when pictures are
included (in the body of the e-mail, not as an attachment) I seem to always be getting the "Red X". This does not happen when I receive similar e-mails from anyone else. Could it be some setting on the sender's end? |

There are a few possibilities. Some are on the sender's end, and some may be
on your end. See these links for information: http://www.fjsmjs.com/IE/redx.htm And: http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/faqs/why.htm#nopreview And: http://www.oehelp.com/noimg.aspx And: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=246186 -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "Joy" wrote in message ... Thanks, Bruce. The last one sounds the most likely, since I can get
pictures from anyone else without the Red X. I'll have to find out if the sender has problems with other recipients seeing the pictures. "Bruce Hagen" wrote in message ... YW. If the person is using OE, make sure they have Send Pictures with
messages checked in Tools | Options | Send | HTML Settings. Also, copy and paste will result in a red X if that is how they are putting the messages in the e-mail. They can test by sending a message to themselves with pictures in the message and see if they get it. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "Joy" wrote in message ... Thanks again, I'll tell him that. Also I wanted to ask you - I sent him
those links that you sent before, and he said they won't open for him. Any suggestions what is causing that? I'd kind of hard to help him right now, because I'm away from home so can't go to his house to try to help. I'm having to do it "long distance". "Bruce Hagen" wrote in message ... YW. Assuming he is using Outlook Express & Internet Explorer:
For IE7 only: Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs | Set Program Access and Defaults | Browser: IE /must/ be chosen here if you're running IE7 and want such links to work. Hyperlinks do not work in Outlook Express after you upgrade to Internet Explorer 7: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929867 If still no joy, for IE6 & IE7: From: http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/nolinks.htm If nothing happens when you click a link: Open Windows Explorer, or the Control Panel. Go to Tools | Folder Options | File Types. Scroll down to [NONE] URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol (NOT URL:Internet Shortcut) and select it. Click Edit or Advanced, depending on your Windows version. Select 'open'. Click Edit. "Application used to perform this action" should read: "C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome (Check the path to iexplore.exe to make sure that is correct and use the double quotes.) DDE should be checked and in the boxes below it you should have: #1: "%1",,-1,0,,,, #2 IExplore #3 (blank) #4 WWW_OpenURL URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy should be the same. Sometimes it is necessary to uncheck Use DDE. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "Joy" wrote in message ... Thanks again, I'll tell him that.
