I have two PCs on a LAN. Both are running XP SP2, OE6, Zone Alarm and AVG.
One system fails to connect to the mail server and one works as it should. The Error Number is 0x800CCC90. Here is what I have done so far: Gone to tool accountsmailproperties and compared the settings between the two PCs. They are identical Deleted the mail account on the faulty box and did a reinstall of the mail account. Went to my ISPs home page and changed the password there and then went to each PC and changed to that new password. None of this has fixed the problem. Oddly enough I have friend on the same ISP with the same problem and at first it was easy to blame the ISP except that I one PC without the problem blew that idea away. What next? Charlie |

Post the complete error message.
OT: Using MS Word as your default HTML editor (IE Tools Internet Options Programs) to compose OE messages is not a good idea. If you must do so, only use ENTER to begin a new paragraph. To begin a new line, use Shift+ENTER to avoid the unnecessary line breaks seen in your post. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE, OE, Security, Shell/User) AumHa VSOP & Admin; DTS-L.org Charlie Bress wrote: I have two PCs on a LAN. You are using AVG's email scanner, which, like the other AV programs, will
muck up OE, such as you are finding out. You need to disable the email scanning. In many cases, this still doesn't solve the problem, so you'll need to uninstall AVG, and do a custom reinstall and do not install the email scanner. Disable email scanning by your anti-virus application. It provides no
additional protection and even Symantec says it's not necessary: paste Disabling Email Scanning does not leave you unprotected against viruses that are distributed as email attachments. Norton AntiVirus Auto-Protect scans incoming files as they are saved to your hard drive, including email and email attachments. Email Scanning is just another layer on top of this. To make sure that Auto-Protect is providing the maximum protection, keep Auto-Protect enabled and run LiveUpdate regularly to ensure that you have the most recent virus definitions. /paste http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...02111812533106 Troubleshooting error messages that you receive when you are using OL and OE http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=813514 -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE, OE, Security, Shell/User) AumHa VSOP & Admin; DTS-L.org Charlie Bress wrote: The error message is below The server responded with an error. Try this. On the PC that is working, open the accounts option in tools.
select the mail account and click on the button "export". Save to a floppy or USB drive. On the PC that is not working, go to the accounts option and click on the button "import". Point to the file you just saved with export and now you know the two accounts are identical. It the second PC does not work now, you have a system fault. "Charlie Bress" wrote in message ...
