I use outlook express 6 and occassionally the box gets unchecked to leave on
server. I have it set to keep on server for 10 days and then delete. I cannot figure out why this happens. Any suggestions would be appreciated. |

Settings that become unchecked may be caused by one or more of the following
programs. There are probably others that will do it as well. Ad-aware's Ad-Watch IBM Access Connections McAfee VirusScan and/or Antispyware Norton AV Spyware Blaster Spybot Tools IE Tweaks Spybot- Teatimer Spysweeper Spyware Doctor Windows Defender Zone Alarm (free) 6.5 Reported to be fixed in later versions. In the case of Zone Alarm 6.5 or Norton 2007 it actually has to be uninstalled. Make sure the Windows Firewall is turned on until you reinstall Zone Alarm. Boot into Safe Mode with Networking and try the change. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "Donna B" Donna wrote in message ... The only program I have running is Norton AV is there somewhere in there that
I have to mark not to uncheck the box to leave on server? I never know when this is going to happen and my boss travels alot and needs to be able to access his emails via the server. Norton AV must be removed. There is nothing to uncheck. Norton has a long
history of screwing up OE. To remove Norton completely: Commonly used Symantec tools: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...05103109480139 Using the Norton Removal Tool: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...05033108162039 Removing NAV 2003 and earlier using Rnav2003.exe. http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...01092114452606 Symantec NIS, NAV and NSW 2004, 2005, 2006 removal http://basconotw.mvps.org/SymRem.htm Symantec NIS, Norton Antispam, and NPF 2004, 2005, 2006 removal http://basconotw.mvps.org/SymRem1.htm And if necessary: http://www.ccleaner.com/ I would suggest either Avast, (freeware), or NOD32, (not free). In the case of Avast, choose Custom Installation and under Resident Protection, uncheck: Internet Mail and Outlook/Exchange. Norton, and McAfee, products are not Outlook Express friendly, and I don't know of any OE-MVP that would recommend using them. Avast: http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html NOD32: http://www.eset.com/ -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "Donna B" wrote in message ... Thank you. I actually have Avast on my laptop and home computer, and I have
to say they are working much better since I removed Norton, so I will do that on my work computers. Donna "Bruce Hagen" wrote: Norton AV must be removed. There is nothing to uncheck. One of Norton's "system protections" is the culprit, Donna. Contact
Symantec Support for assistance. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE, OE, Security, Shell/User) AumHa VSOP & Admin; DTS-L.org Donna B wrote: The only program I have running is Norton AV is there somewhere in there that I have to mark not to uncheck the box to leave on server?
