Can anyone help me with this mystery. My OE address book has been bulging
with additions from my formerly archived address books, thus I have replicated entries, and its getting so large I cannot easily edit them out because recently I added more information to many contacts' cards. I am a blind user. My computer is an HP, XP Pro SR2, and I use OneCare, now. Prior to last week I used Ad-Aware, SpyBot s&D, Zone Alarm, Windows Firewall (Duh!), and AVG. Because I downloaded OneCare I downloaded IE7. It was fine for me, but I had problems even at the MS site to scan my computer for Updates (which were formerly on Automatic with Notification in my computer--that disappeared, too). I have removed IE7 for now. Also, I've removed all of my programs automatic update features, because when I had Zone Alarm HP and WMP was daily trying to access the Internet, and I wanted that stopped for more security; thus I also removed another Adobe (bulky, large), and anything I know I can shed to protect my computer. The only problem is that it takes a software maintence guru to be able to find that file in WMP11. Its a horrible program for the majority of users, and its malware, at best. But, I could not find the WMP "update" file, so its been removed totally, for now. My OE has been running fine...and the Address Book seems stable now, but to clean it out, will be many days task. Other than the above, I did use System Restore twice, but it did not affect the Address Book problem. And, during this time, my DSL company kept trying to change my modem (its my phone company, too),and I was refusing to be moved from pin 1 to pin 3, et al...so I was down for about 6 days off an on...while I raged at them for having a pw on my account that I'd never heard nor "seen (I make passphrases so I know when one is mine)." Maybe something happened to my computer during that period of time. Thank you so much. |

Access the Address Book via Start | Programs | Accessories | Address Book.
Click File | Show All Contacts. Search there for any unwanted addresses, or Address Books and delete them. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "Pappion" wrote in message ... Try searching for wab.exe
wab.exe is probably in "C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\wab.exe" When you open it you should be able to click File | Show All Contacts. Search there for any unwanted addresses or Address Books and delete them.
