With older versions of OE, I could highlight an email or posting and hit
"delete" and that was it. With OE6, I have to keep confirming over and over. Is there an override setting somewhere for OE6 to let us delete postings with one delete keystroke? Thanks in advance. Bob |

In newsgroups you will always see that warning. For e-mail, you should only
see that when empting Deleted Items, or doing a Shift/Delete. Are you seeing the warning "Are you sure you want to permanently delete these messages when trying to send a message to Deleted Items? Did this just start? General precautions for Outlook Express: Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They will eventually become corrupt. Create your own user defined folders for storing mail and move your mail to them. Empty Deleted Items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 100MB, and Default folders as empty as is feasible. After you are done, follow up by compacting your folders manually while working *offline* and do it often. Click on Outlook Express at the top of the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work Offline (or double click Working Online in the Status Bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Thanks for the tips Bruce.
Actually, it is only newsgroups that I'm having this problem. I had OE6 with Win98SE and don't remember having to keep clicking "yes" over and over to delete postings. If you want to delete a number of messages at a time, hold down the Ctrl key
and highlight the message headers you want to delete, and the you only have to click Delete once for all of them. Likewise, if you want to delete a block of messages. highlight the first, scroll down to the last and hold down the Shift key when you click on the last. If you want to get rid of all messages, highlight one and then Ctrl+A to highlight them all and delete. I started with 98SE/OE6 so I don't even know if earlier versions were different, but AFAIK, OE6 has always been like this. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "Guv Bob" wrote in message k.net...
