My registry has NO KEYS AT ALL for Outlook Express 6. Well...I did
delete them all. I was getting that error 0x800ccc0f, and nothing else worked, so I found this friendly Web page that told me how to remove and reinstall Outlook Express. Rename a dozen files, DELETE A HALF-DOZEN REGISTRY KEYS! I'm such a doo-doo head' any moron can start a Web page! I finally realized that I could just uninstall and reinstall Outlook Express using Add/Remove Programs, but it was too late, I didn't export those keys before I removed them, and System Restore just refuses to take me back to an earlier time (Restoration Incomplete...No changes were made to your computer.) Now Outlook Express will run just fine, except that I get an error message about it not being able to open the Address Book. It's creating a blank address book every time I rename the old one, it just can't open it. It also says that "Outlook Express is not configured correctly, please re-install." Re-installing doesn't help. What should I do? I can live without the Address Book, but those error messages are annoying and make me feel like such an idiot. Roy |

Hi Roy,
Don't know if this will help, but it's worth a try. In Add/Remove Program Control Panel | Set Program Access and Defaults Choose Custom and select Outlook Express as the default mail app. This might restore the correct Registry entries. Also see the Microsoft KB for instructions. OE 6 uses registry keys named "5.0". There never were any named 6.0 or
5.5 for that matter. If you rename the address book, you have to also adjust the registry How to Change the Location of the Windows Address Book http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=156828 Also see: The Windows Address Book (WAB) http://www.insideoe.com/files/wab.htm -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Roy Fenimore" wrote in message ... Hi! Thanks for your suggestions, although they weren't very
useful--except for the one below. Since the WAB key was one of the ones I deleted, I think I might need to replace it. It has the location of the Address book, but according to some references it is in HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/WAB/Wab File Name/(Default) that has to be changed, and in some it is HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/WAB/WAB4/Wab File Name/(Default) If anybody is using Windows XP and Outlook Express 6, can you take a peek inside your registry and see which it is? I'd appreciate it. Or better yet, just export the whole WAB key and attach the .reg file to your reply. I promise I won't sell your registry secrets to the Russians. Success!!! In case you're interested, what I needed was to create the
key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\WAB\DLLPath and set it's default value to the location of wab32.dll. Everything's cool now! Still if someone could export their HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\WAB key (the whole thing, and e-mail me the .reg file, I would be super grateful. No telling what other stuff should be in their. (That's one of the keys I was told to delete!) Thanks a heap, everybody. It's nice to know I'm not struggling alone! Roy On Mon, 16 Jul 2007 12:18:12 -0500, Roy Fenimore wrote: Hi!
