Please do not post in Caps. It is considered rude, shouting, and is harder
to read. Save the attachment to your HDD. Right click on it and Open With | Choose Program. Find and choose a program that works and then check the box: Always use this program to open this kind of file. This should enable you to open these attachments in the future. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "bernardrachel" wrote in message ... Jane,
Go to Control Panel, then Folder Options, Select File Types, Scroll down to ..jpeg extension to see what program is chosen to open that extension. Change it to Microsoft Office Picture Manage or some other picture program and that should do it. (Do .jpe and .jpg while you are at it) ps I am a "newbie" to this thing too, so typing in caps is considered yelling!! There is an etiquette section somewhere that gives helpful info on do's and don'ts in discussion groups. I'm sure you meant no harm. Go easy on her Bruce!!! -- Tate "bernardrachel" wrote: I HAVE WINDOWS XP AND OUTLOOK EXPRESS IS MY E-MAIL CARRIER. WHEN I RECIEVE AN E-MAIL THAT HAS AND ATTACHMENT WITH JPG, ETC. I CAN NOT OPEN IT. To "daniel lay" Don't reply to messages when you are not going to help. That is more RUDE than
shouting. To "Jane" Don't post messages in all capital letters. That is considered SHOUTING and is not polite. But in response to your questions. When you go to the Control Panel you will find an Icon called "folder options" When you open Folder Options you will find a tab marked "file types" Open this folder and you will find icons and the three letter "extension" for file types. You scroll down until you find the extension of the attachment file that would not open, (like "jpg") Select that extension and it will tell you what program will open that file. If you don't have a program for that file, you have to select an applicable one or change it to one that does work. For "jpg" files, "Internet Explorer" is one program that will work. A very good (and free) program for "jpg" files is Irfanview (www.irfanview.com) Of course you have to download and install this program first. "daniel lay" wrote in message ...
