I have a desktop PC running Windows XP SP2. Pentium D processor at
3Ghz. 2GB of RAM. DSL Internet connection. Outlook Express 6 SP2 is my default email and newsgroup program. I frequently have friends and relatives send me JPEG images in email. Just recently, I have noticed that it takes about 2-3 seconds longer for these images to open up and display. This is not really a problem, but I'm wondering what might be slowing things down. I've run a CheckDisk and Disk Defrag. No change. I rebooted into Safe Mode, opened the same images with Outlook Express, but the same slowness is apparent even there. Any ideas? |

Try deleting Temporary Internet Files (TIF) and accepting the prompt to
delete all offline files. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE, OE, Security, Shell/User) AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.org/ History Fan wrote: I have a desktop PC running Windows XP SP2. Make sure your AV is not scanning e-mail, or automatically scanning .eml
files. Just an aside about CCleaner. Do you backup OE daily? My senior colleagues spent years lambasting MS about losing messages/folders when compacting. MS finally came up with the BAK backup, but if you run CCleaner at startup, that defeats the purpose. I use it myself, but apply it manually. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "History Fan" wrote in message ... "PA Bear" wrote in message ... I temporarily disabled that plugin, but it didn't change anything. I use OE daily, but never back it up. I don't know how. |

Uncheck E-mail Scanning when you see that option. For some reason, just unchecking it in the security center causes a conflict with the Windows Security Center. This freeware tool backs up everything in OE in seconds. Disregard what is written in red. That is referring to a different program.
