How do I use and it makes a round smiley? I can do it at work and we
have Window's Office, but I can't do it at home on XP.

I go to tools, then options, but there is no mail format tab coming up. At
work I have edit in microsoft word and that makes the pretty smiley.

Please advise.

Thank you.

OE doesn't have the capability of doing this. Alt + 1 and Alt + 2 will give
you these: ? ? but that's it. See:
http://www.tedmontgomery.com/tutorial/ALTchrc.html

Or do a Google for Smileys, but beware that you might download more than a
program. Smiley programs are notorious for including bugs if all sorts.

Do you have Outlook or Outlook Express at work?
Outlook comes with Office (XP) but not Windows XP.

Try OE-quotefix and enable emoticons.
Works for me.

Windows Live Mail has smileys.
:-) generates a smiley.
It also has bugs, but then it is beta.
I replaced OE on XP with WLM.

OE does not come with any emoticons. But there are sources of these on
the Internet. The
emoticons are simply image files (GIF) that you can use with Insert,
Picture in an HTML
format message.

Yes, but it only works for you, not your recipient.
