I have 4 email addresses. On any of them the last 3 emails will not come in,
no matter how long I wait for the server to receive them. Sending is no problem. This is only a problem on my laptop, my PC receives and sends - no problems. Please can you help? |

Go to your mail server's Website and read them and delete them there. Then,
heed these helpful hints for OE. Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They will eventually become corrupt. Create your own user defined folders for storing mail and move your mail to them. Empty Deleted Items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 100MB, and Default folders as empty as is feasible. After you are done, follow up by compacting your folders manually while working *offline* and do it often. Click on Outlook Express at the top of the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work Offline (or double click Working Online in the Status Bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed. Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that eats up CPUs and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A/V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more, see: http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 In Tools | Options | Maintenance: Uncheck Compact messages in background and leave it unchecked. {N/A if running XP/SP2}. And backup often. After downloading all messages using my PC I get this result on my laptop
when I attempt send and receive: "Checking for new messages on @tuflow gofree@... Receiving message 1 of 3 Then it just stops like this after the first message appears to have been received. I have checked the server and I have no messages on it at all. My PC sends and receives in OE on the same address, no problem. I have removed and re-installed OE, no different. I am lost on this. Do you have this set up? If not, try it and send about 5 test messages with
your PC and then check the laptop. If both computers are using the same e-mail address, on both machines: Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced - Check: Leave a copy of messages on the server. On one machine, check to Delete messages after X days to assure the server does not get clogged up. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "Big Geoff" wrote in message ... If the messages don't appear on the server, the OE can't download them.
Sounds like the desktop is downloading the messages first, then deleting them so there is nothing for the laptop to download. You can have all users/PCs download all message from a POP3 mail server by selecting Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties, Advanced, Leave a copy of messages on the server in all users/PCs. One or more of the users/PCs should be set to delete messages from the server after a few days or else the server mail account will eventually fill. If you still have problems, you may want to try recording a pop3.log which will show more details about incoming mail. To create an POP3.log In OE5+, go to Tools, Options, Maintenance, Troubleshooting and check the Mail box. You may need to close OE after doing the send/receive for the log to get written to disk. The log will be in the Store Folder which is listed in Tools, Options, Maintenance, Store Folder. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Big Geoff" wrote in message ...
