Default O.E. + security

My p.c. is well protected,i.e., hardware firewall and all the necessaries.
I am concerned about my O.E. I was given as far as security is concerned.
Outlook is more expensive but I don't know if O.E. compromised the security
to bring the cost down from Outlook.
Is O.E. truly safe as long as the pc is well protected -all the O.E. updates
from M.S. are installed.

Depends on what you mean by secure Someone can't use it to get into or
infect your machine any more easily than through Outlook, but the OE
password is a joke and will only deep out honest people. It's like locking
your front door but leaving all the other doors and windows unlocked.

You should be running a good anti-virus with email scanning turned off and
also a good anti-spyware. If you use OE don't use Norton or McAfee.
