I have created a new Identity in OE. I would like to 'attach' several of my
prior ID's folders to my new Identity in OE Store Folder. How do I do this? |

This will import folders to the new identity, and you will see them in the
folder tree. In the new identity: File | Import | Messages. Select Microsoft Outlook Express 6 and Import from the old identity. When you see the option, you can choose Selected Folders. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "Sue" wrote in message ... I have created a new Identity in OE. I made the mistake of deleting my original ID after creating the new one. I
have the Store Folder in tact with all folders, but the identity was deleted. Now what? Am I out of luck, Bruce? You deleted the identity but still have the message store with the dbx files
in it? Strange, but then this is Outlook Express. So, import from another identity is out of the question? You will have to do the following for all the folders/files you want. Open the store folder for the old ID and drag the dbx files that you want out of it to the Desktop. Rename any folder that has the same name as a folder you have in the New ID. Eg: You have a new Inbox. So if the Inbox.dbx from the old ID is one you want, rename it to something like Old Inbox.dbx. Open OE and create a folder with the *exact* same name as the one on the Desktop. In this case, Old Inbox. Open the new folder and then close OE. Go to Windows Explorer and locate the Message Store folder for your OE identity, but don't open it. Click on the Desktop and drag the file from the Desktop in the right hand pane to the OE store folder in the left pane. Prompt - "Do you want to overwrite......."? Click Yes. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "Sue" wrote in message news ![]() I made the mistake of deleting my original ID after creating the new one. Got it! Gracious, what a procedure, but yes, we are talking about OE! =]
Is it excepted that MSN and Hotmail will one day make it so we are not able to get mail into OE? It is my understanding OE is no longer supported. Appreciate your time, Bruce. Just because you can't import from another Identity doesn't mean that you
have to create and replace folders. Do an import from a store directory. Use file, import, messages, outlook express, Import from an OE store directory, browse to the old store folder. -- Ronald Sommer "Bruce Hagen" wrote in message ... I honestly don't know for sure what the status is with OE and Hotmail. (I
never used it and don't pay much attention). OE is supported by MS, but mostly for security updates. There won't be any improvements to it. Were you able to get any folders into OE from the deleted identity? It's easier than is sounds. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "Sue" wrote in message ... Got it! Ron and Bruce. The transfer of folders from one OE Store to a second worked
without a hitch, I am so relieved to report. Thank you so much for the attention to this question.
