I had 2 store folders, and wanted to switch from one to the other. Without
warning the folders in the Store Folder I wanted to switch to to were moved to the other store folder I wanted to switch from, and deleted from their former store folder. (The box asking to confirm if you wanted to move as opposed to switch folders didn't appear in this case.) I cannot now get back to the original email folders which seem lost without trace. Not in Recycle Bin, not to be found with a .dbx search. Is their any way to get at the "missing" files (which are my main email folders...). I have avoided writing anything more to disk. I'm not sure what you did, or why you had two store folders, but in Win2K,
dbx files are hidden, so include Hidden Files and Folders in your search. -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "iag" wrote in message ... I did include Hidden Files and Folders in the search, and only found some
ancient dbx files left, I suspect, by a previous user of the PC. I have a "dummy" store folder which I wanted to use to check if an folder import would work properly, before making the transfer to the "live" Store Folder. So I now have the dummy, but not the live. I thought I had simply made the normal folder switch, without deleting or transferring the files, amd was suprised not not be asked the Yes/No/Cancel questions - the transfer just went through immediately, and I had Explorer open and saw the file transfers being made there. But so quick it certainly appeared to be simply directory changes, and the data is presumably still, somewhere, on disk. Not quite sure what you did, how you did it or what you wanted to accomplish but see if the following helps: How to move your store folder http://www.insideoe.com/files/store.htm#movestore -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE/OE, Shell/User, Security), Aumha.org VSOP, DTS-L.org iag wrote: I had 2 store folders, and wanted to switch from one to the other. It sounds as if you overwrote some of the files.
The only chance for recovery at this point is DBXpress, which will scan the entire hard drive looking for the messages. See www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/ steve "iag" wrote in message ...
