Default Paper Clip

In my Inbox, why does the paper clip show next to the name of the sender (in
almost all of my e-mails) when there isn't an attachment?

AVG Alert!!!

If the message contains any HTML and you are reading in Plain Text, you will
see the paper clip.

Also, if you are using AVG for your anti-virus and have e-mail scanning
enabled, that can cause the issue as well. Normally, I would just say to
turn off the e-mail scanning feature. It is a redundant layer of protection
that eats up CPUs and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and
account setting changes. Your up-to-date A/V program will continue to
protect you sufficiently. However, with AVG you need to remove and
reinstall AVG and choose Custom Mode. Uncheck E-mail Scanning when you see
that option. For some reason, just unchecking it in the security center
causes a conflict with the Windows Security Center.

1. To banty. If you don't know, don't reply to the post. You look stupid doing that.

2. To cesar smith. Do you use AVG antivirus? If so do you scan incoming mail? The paper clip
means an attachment and the attachment is the message by AVG that the mail was scanned and is virus
free. If you disable email scanning your wont get the attachment (PS with an up-to-date antivirus
software, you don't have to scan email. The software will kill the virus as soon as it attempts to
act. scanning just slows the system down and can corrupt incoming mail. Think how nice it would
be at the airport if we just let people get on the plane without a scan and then armed a trained
crew to kill any highjacker when they show them self. Might be messy a couple of times, but 99.99%
of fights would go very smoothly.)
