Hi,
In the last few days some mails are not coming through to my Outlook
account or are delayed by several hrs.
I can see that hotmail is moving to windows live, do I therefore need to
make any configuration changes on Outlook so that it syncs properly?

applications.

No changes to the email client(Outlook Express or Outlook)
- it appears from your post that you are referring to Outlook Express
and not Outlook

What is not clear is what type of hotmail account is in use?
- stand-alone free or fee(plus)
- piggyback(msn explorer, msn premium/partner)

If the account is a hotmail plus stand-alone then pop3 access and
settings may be available
