Hello - I have the problem that when using OE6 as my newsgroups reader some
data is not displayed. The left hand pane is fine, and this tells me that I am subscribed to a given group and how many unread topics there are. In the top right hand pane I get the list of those posts but it is a very short list - about 20 or so, not the 600 posts I should see. I have tried checking the 'get 'N' headers at a time' box and making N = 300 to no avail. The lower RH pane display is fine. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

Hi nitram001,
Do the 20 posts that are displayed include posts made by yourself? If so, it could be the View setting. When viewing the newsgroup try the keyboard combination: Ctrl+H to toggle the setting to display all posts rather than Show Replies to my Messages. Or check the setting in OE View, Current View Show All Messages. -- Tim K. aka Kuay Tim MS-MVP - Outlook Express Lynnwood, WA * "nitram001" wrote in message ... Hello Tim. Two of the messages in the list include posts made by me and they
are displayed, so I do not think it is the view setting (which I have confirmed is set to Show all Messages). Actually now I cannot read one of my posts because it has fallen off the bottom of the list and is not available by scrolling down. Very strange and frustrating. Do you have any other ideas? Thanks, Martin |

Hi Martin,
This may be a process of discovery. In OE Tools, Options, Maintenance are there any selections here that would remove a newsgroup post? Are there any (news) rules in use? What news server are you using -- is it reliable? A catch-all strategy would be to reset the group. If that fails remove and then add the account again in Outlook Express. The account could be tried in a new OE identity, which may (now) have a problem. A Guide to using OE Identities from Microsoft Support OLEXP: How to Create and Use Identities in Outlook Express 5.x and 6.0 Use NNTP for this Newsgroup http://home.earthlink.net/~kuaytim/nntp_posting.html -- Tim K. aka Kuay Tim MS-MVP - Outlook Express Lynnwood, WA * "nitram001" wrote in message ... Hi Tim - thanks for your suggestions and I tried them all but without success;
I checked in tools, options, Maintenance, and there are no selections to remove posts. There are no news rules in use I am using news.blueyonder.co.uk, but I also tried some others - it made no difference. I removed the newsgroup account and replaced it, no change I tried in another identity (another user of this PC) - same problem I created new identity in outlook (on my login) - the problem remains still, thanks for some other ideas... Best Regards, Martin |

Hi Martin,
I'm at a loss to offer another suggestion short of a repair/reinstall. This is a somewhat difficult process and success is not guaranteed. The answer may lie in the Registry, but this is a guess. Someone might have a better suggestion. How to reinstall or repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=318378 At the bottom of the article there are instructions for preparing to reinstall OE by first editing the Registry. This works for other versions of Windows except Windows 95. -- Tim K. aka Kuay Tim MS-MVP - Outlook Express Lynnwood, WA * "nitram001" wrote in message ...
