Default OE 6.0 can't open - error message

hi,
my PC runs with Windows Me. i downloaded IE 6.0 and OE 6.0, and now OE
can't open. the following error message comes up: "OE could not be started
because MSOERES.DLL could not be found. OE may not be unstalled correctly".
i found the MSOERES.DLL file on my C:\ drive, so not sure why the error comes
up.
my Outlook also can't open. the following error message comes up: "An OLE
registration error occurred. The program is not correctly installed. Run set
up again for the program."
please let me know how to resolve these problems. thank you.

Default OE 6.0 can't open - error message

OE Help About Files: What versions of MSOE.DLL, INETCOMM.DLL and
WAB32.DLL are shown here?

Did you ever (1) upgrade to IE6 and then (2) reinstall WinME without first
having (3) uninstalled IE6?

Default OE 6.0 can't open - error message

all 3 files are vs. 6.0 etc.

Post the etc. parts (e.g., v6.00.2800.1234). Their locations don't matter
right now.

Do NOT reinstall WinME! I was just asking if you had done so.

Default OE 6.0 can't open - error message

the 3 files are vs. 6.0.2800.1478

additional info: i tried to repair IE6 via the add/remove program and got an
error message that IE cannot be repaired due to the following error: vs. of
MSHTMLED.DLL 5.50.4611.1300 was found but vs. of or above 6.0.2800.1100 is
needed. can i download this file vs. from somewhere? i tried to run set up
again but got an error message that certain set up files are missing. in any
case, IE 6 is working fine, but OE can't open and i can't even return to
earlier vs now...

any help how to get back OE would be much appreciated.

thank you for your time.

OK. (So much for that idea.)

Compliments of MVP Steve Cochran:

See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#7 If that doesn't help then see point 5 on
that page.
