Default Mail account,IE6

My system (WindowsXP Home edition and BT Broadband) crashed and I took
that time do do a complete clean re-install and everything was installed
and works OK with the exception of Outlook Express (which the account
settings are the same as they were before the crash), now everytime I
click send and receive I am asked for password, I enter password and
click ok and it keeps asking me for the password and I cannot open the
mail.

Can anyone help please.
