Cant send/recieve mail. password problem
hi all,
can u please help, i am having problems getting into outlook express it just keeps asking me for my password and when i enter it, click ok,, the box just pops up again. even when i press cancel the box pops up another 5-6 times, the password and account name are correct. i checked my account settings and everything is correct. i used the registry to sort the ubi.com problem but unfortunately the outlook express problem remains, i even tried deleting my accounts and creating new ones but still no joy. if you or anyone else has anymore ideas i would be most grateful, i really need to resolve this problem. thx in advance. lee. Does the Remember Password box become unchecked?
Settings that become unchecked may be caused by one or more of the following programs. There are probably others that will do it as well. Ad-aware's Ad-Watch IBM Access Connections McAfee VirusScan and/or Antispyware Norton AV Spyware Blaster Spybot Tools IE Tweaks Spybot- Teatimer Spysweeper Spyware Doctor Windows Defender Zone Alarm (free) 6.5 Reported to be fixed in later versions. In the case of Zone Alarm 6.5 or Norton 2007 it actually has to be uninstalled. Make sure the Windows Firewall is turned on until you reinstall Zone Alarm. The Invalid password error message can mean that any of the following
are wrong: - POP3 server name - Incoming Mail Server Account Name (some require the full e-mail address , others just want the user part) - Incoming Mail Server Password (often case sensitive) - Incorrect use of Secure Password Authentication (SPA) - few severs use this - Incorrect use of SSL - few servers use this, but it's becoming more common - The mail server is having temporary problems - Anti-Virus scanning e-mail or anti-spam program interfering with the mail server logon Check these settings in Outlook Express at Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties, Servers (Advanced tab for SSL). Check with your mail service (generally your ISP) for the correct values. If the values seem correct, retype them and click APPLY. In the event that the account settings are corrupted in the registry, it might be necessary to delete the mail account, restart OE and then set up the account again.
