Default digitally sign menu option

Every time I open a new message, I have to uncheck the "digitally sign" menu
option under Tools before I can send. How can I permanantly uncheck this
menu option? I didn't used to have to do this and I don't know what changed.
I've looked under Properties for the account, but nothing.
Thanks,
Ripper
