It could be a problem on the sender's end. Ask them to send the graphics as
attached files and see if that fixes it.

There is also the option for Tools - Options - Security - Block images.
This will blocked any linked objects in an HTML-formatted e-mails, like for
IMG tags.

Interestingly enough, I sent this email to my brother who only got red X's
where the photos were supposed to be and he replied to my original.

His browser is set to include the original in the response and when I got
the response the photos displayed correctly.???? Checking the properties
of the photos shows this url.

http://us.a1.yahoofs.com/users/435da...YdV1DBOSPZPxeE

Still researching the issue.
Thanks for all the help.

Then it sounds like you are using a local path to the image file rather than
using an embedded image (e.g., copy/paste) or providing a URL link to it
residing on some online storage from which the recipient can yank it.

Look at the raw data for the message (Ctrl+F3) to see what path is specified
in the IMG tag. You probably have something like
href="C:\folder\image.jpeg" which only has meaning on YOUR host because the
recipient won't have a matching file under that specific path on their host.

George. Are you posting from the problem machine? From your headers, it
would appear that you haven't been to Windows Updates since you got the
machine. What OS are you supposedly using?

I am in fact posting from this machine. I did the update route a month ago
or so and the 6 updates downloaded and the first one applied but the others
simply will not apply.
When my system slows down, I can check the task manager and there is a
process "Windows XP - KB835732-x86-enu.exe" running. I have to kill it to
keep going.
I have tried over and over to get these updates to apply with the same
result. I have poured over the MS XP sites trying to find a solution. I
would dearly like to get these applied and get off this problem but cannot
seem to find an answer.
If you have a silver bullet, I would be very grateful for its use to
either delete these downloads and start over or whatever it takes.

Thanks for noticing, George

Well, you're never going to have a machine that runs correctly without being
updated. I see you haven't even got to SP2. I would crosspost to the XP &
Update newsgroups for better help with this problem. When you are fully
updated, post back here if you still have OE issues.

XP General Newsgroup:

Windows Update Newsgroup:
