Hi,
My friend has a laptop running Win XP plus latest updates and uses OE for her email. She has three email accounts set up in OE, I'll call them A, B and C. No matter which email account an email comes in on, when she replies OE always inserts the email address associated with account B in to the email. Email account B is not the default email address. Can anyone suggest a solution? |

Are you sure that's exactly what is happening? OE should use the address the
message came in on regardless of the default account. If it came in on A, the reply should show the address for the A account. A message sent to the B address should have the B address showing for a reply, etc. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "Dell Boy" Dell am wrote in message ... Outlook Express always uses the same account for replies and forwards
that downloaded the message. The default account is used for new messages. If the multiple accounts are aliases for the same server POP3 account (They have the same settings at Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties, Servers for both Incoming POP3 server AND Incoming Account Name), then any one of the accounts might download messages for any of the addresses. To see which account downloaded a message, select the Inbox folder, then View, Columns and add the ACCOUNT column. If this is the case, and you would like the Default account to be used for All replies, then there is an easy fix for this. At Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties General, Uncheck the Include this account for All accounts Except the Default one. Then the default account will download all the mail and will therefore be used for replies. If the accounts are not aliases, then you do need to have the Include this account checked for the non-alias accounts and will have to use the FROM drop down box when composing to set the desired account for that message. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Dell Boy" Dell am wrote in message ... Hi,
Outlook Express will use the receiving email account to send out the reply email. Follow the steps below to see if it works. If it is POP3 account, please add the To column in the Inbox folder. ------------- In the Inbox folder, right click the column name and choose Columns. Check "To", click OK. Thus, all the emails are sent to which email account (A, B or C) will be listed in the "To" column. When you reply to an email which sent to account A, is it using the account A or B to send out the message? If it still using the account B, please go to Tools Accounts remove the Account B setting and test the issue. And then re-configure the account B. If the issue persists, create a new Identity to see if it works. =================== 1. On the "File" menu, point to "Identities", and then click "Add New Identity". 2. In the "Type your name" box, type a name for the identity. 3. Click OK and then click "Yes" to switch to the new identity. Note: you can just click File Switch Identity to come back to the original identity. 4. When Outlook Express is started again, please reconfigure the email accounts A, B and C in Outlook Express new identity. 5. Send a test email to the Account A. Reply the test email. Is everything working fine in the new identity? If anything is unclear or if you have any other concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me. Thanks to everyone who has replied, you've all given me plenty to think about
and try. I looked at this issue on the laptop briefly a few days ago and from memory I would say that there is some aliasing going on so I need to progress that angle. Thanks again and when/if I resolve it I'll re-post. "Dell Boy" wrote: Hi, My friend has a laptop running Win XP plus latest updates and uses OE for her email.
