It took me a while to figure out that somehow sent items that have actually
been sent are suddenly not showing up in the sent items folder. It turns out that this has been hapening since about January 20. Is there any way that this can be fixed? Otherwise, OE6 seems to be working OK. Thanks for any wisdom and help on this Bascom King |

Is Sent Items accumulating a lot of mail? Do the following, and if it still
doesn't save Sent Items may be corrupt. Post back and we'll make a new Sent Items folder. A general warning if you don't want to lose your messages in the futu Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They will eventually become corrupted. Create your own user defined folders for storing mail and move your mail to them. Empty Deleted Items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 100MB, and Default folders as empty as is feasible. After you are done, follow up by compacting your folders manually while working *offline* and do it often. Click on Outlook Express at the top of the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: FileWork Offline (or double click Working Online in the Status Bar). FileFolderCompact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed. In ToolsOptionsMaintenance: Uncheck Compact messages in background and leave it unchecked. {N/A if running XP/SP2}. -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "Bascom King" wrote in message ... Thanks for any wisdom and help on this Bascom King The setting is at OEtoolsoptionssend tab. The Sent Items folder might be corrupt? Move all messages that you wish to retain, into a folder that you create. Close OE. You need to then find the file "Sent Items.dbx" and delete it, (In Windows XP, the Outlook Express files, including .wab and .dbx files, are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Explorer, you must enable Show Hidden Files and Folders under StartControl PanelFolder OptionsView). OE will create a new Sent Items folder when you open OE, move your messages back to it. If you have a lot of saved messages move them to created folders for storage. Never store mail in the default folders, Inbox, Sent, Drafts, this causes the type of problem that you are now seeing. When you are OK again you need to compact your message store! Select Outlook Express at the top of the folder treethen OEfilework offline. Then Filefoldercompact all folders. Do not touch your machine until it finishes. HTH? -- Regards Steve. MS-MVP. OE. winking Now that you got your calendar fixed...
Tools Options Maintenance Store folder will reveal the location of your current Identity's store (http://www.insideoe.com/files/store.htm#storemain). Write it down. In WindowsXP, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Explorer, you must enable Show Hidden Files and Folders under Start Control Panel Folder Options View. Close OE. Are you sure OE's closed? OK, now navigate to your store, find and Delete "Sent Items.dbx". Reopen OE and all should be well. If not, repeat for "Deleted Items.dbx". General OE Caveats: - Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local folders created for this purpose. - Empty Deleted Items folder daily. - Disable Background Compacting [N/A in SP2] and frequently perform a manual compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm. - Do not attempt to close OE via Task Manager or shutdown your machine if Automatic Compacting is taking place (WinXP SP2 only). - Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE/OE, Shell/User, Security), Aumha.org VSOP, DTS-L.org Bascom King wrote: It took me a while to figure out that somehow sent items that have actually been sent are suddenly not showing up in the sent items folder.
