I created new folders and moved the messages into them, but the store folder
is still not updating the contents of the empty folders. I also ran sfc/scannow in msdos but that didn't solve the error msg problem. I think I going to have to do a reinstall of win xp. I compacted the folders again, but I didn't touch the other options (remove msgs, reset, delete) as I can't tell whether they apply to email messages or newsgroup messages. Thanks for your help. (I can tell that you didn't do the latter.) General OE Caveats: - Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local folders created for this purpose. - Empty Deleted Items folder daily. - Disable Background Compacting [not available in SP2] and frequently perform a manual compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm - Do not cancel Automatic Compacting, should it occur, and do not attempt to close OE via Task Manager or shutdown your machine if Automatic Compacting is taking place. - Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause such corruption. I think the store folder is corrupted or processes that use it are. Is there any way to have what appears in OE properly reflected in the store folder? You didn't compact all OE folders. You do not compact all folders via the
Maintenance tab. See http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm#compact (posted in my last reply). YW. Adhere to the caveats I posted earlier and you won't have to worry
about it again. Tim wrote: Thanks for explaining the 2nd time. I did actually follow the instructions before but I forgot I'd done that. The errors gone but I don't know how. Thanks for your help.
