I started using an online back-up system and wanted to backup by mail and
address files in Outlook Express. When I look for these files I can not see them? I follow the path and when I get to the directory indicated the file is not there. I have made sure that I can view all system files, extentions, etc. The path to the files contains a directory with a long hex-based number? Anyway, the only way I see to back-up the data would be to export it to a .pst file (very manual process) then select that file for backup. What am I missing? I do not see a .dbx file?? Thanks, Sondra |

If you have done this:
Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Press the Tab key to highlight the folder location, then Ctrl+C. Close OE, then Start | Run | Ctrl+V will put the location in the box - Click OK and you'll see the OE files. Otherwise, write the location down and navigate to it in Windows Explorer. In WindowsXP, 2K & 3K, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Explorer, you must enable Show Hidden Files and Folders under Start | Control Panel | Folder Options | View. and you do not see them, you must be looking in an old identity. (PST files are for MS Outlook, not OE). Reference - Backup & Resto http://www.insideoe.com/backup/ -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "Sondra" wrote in message ...
