Cannot go to to any page highlighted in e-mails, newsletters or even to the
internet help under tools when in Outlook Express 6. I have to highlight,
copy and paste to go to the selected pages. Any ideas? Thanks.

I assume that since you are posting in this thread that you have the same
problem of not being able to click on links in e-mail? And that you have
tried the fix I supplied, and the Malware removal that Frank supplied?

I have two other possible solutions if those did not work.

#1:

StartRun type, or Copy/Paste, these in one at a time and try again. (Note
the space in each command).

regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll
regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 urlmon.dll

In IE, go to: ToolsInternet OptionsPrograms. Click: Reset Web
Settings - (uncheck box for homepage) - Click Yes.

#2:

You may have a damaged identity. File | Identity | Add New Identity. Create
a new one and test it. If all is well, you can import your messages from the
old identity and delete it.

If none of these four possible fixes work, then I have nothing else to offer
you.

I am sorry, I am posting from work and forgot to specify the different
account. Please forgive my ignorance in this matter. The exact problem is
that sometimes I can connect to a link and some links give me a blank page.
If I copy and paste the link to the address bar there is no problem. I have
applied various fixes that have worked but the current condition eventually
returns. I can not pinpoint when the repair(fix?) no longer works.

Choose 'Extract One File From Installation Disk' ("Expand File"
for WinXP). Type oleaut32.dll, not worrying about its location.
Then, click Start.
Next to 'Restore From', type in or browse for the file's
location, which is probably in the Win98 (i386 for WinXP) folder
of your installation CD-ROM (typically D:\Win98), or in your
Windows\Options\Cabs (Windows\i386 for WinXP) folder, as the case
may be.
Then, next to 'Save File In', enter C:\Windows\System
(C:\Windows\System32 for WinXP), and click OK. System File
Checker (or msconfig) looks for the file, saves it as you
requested, and then tells you that 'the file has been
successfully extracted'. You may need to reboot.

Bruce, I have been here before and find you very helpful and for
that I am grateful. However I am asking for help again in this
matter. I need to know what might be the cause of this returning

By 'That Fix' it seems to indicate there is one application that will
repair what is wrong. I have done all of the mentioned procedures. I have
always had up to date AV SW and scans. I apply all scans at boot up which
means running various spyware removal SW. I remove all cookies and temp
files regularly. I do not suspect interference as all is well other than
what I call a minor problem. The problem is such that after going through a
long process of this and that all will be well for a short time then back to
square one. It is impossible to isolate a problem if this is the 'fix'. It
is for sure an XP issue as all of the XP systems have this and the Win98
systems do not.

I am sorry, I am posting from work and forgot to specify the
different account. Please forgive my ignorance in this matter. The
exact problem is that sometimes I can connect to a link and some
links give me a blank page. If I copy and paste the link to the
address bar there is no problem. I have applied various fixes that
have worked but the current condition eventually returns. I can not
pinpoint when the repair(fix?) no longer works.



I have two other possible solutions if those did not work.

#1:

StartRun type, or Copy/Paste, these in one at a time and try
again. (Note the space in each command).

regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll
regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 urlmon.dll

In IE, go to: ToolsInternet OptionsPrograms. Click: Reset Web
Settings - (uncheck box for homepage) - Click Yes.

#2:

You may have a damaged identity. File | Identity | Add New Identity.
Create a new one and test it. If all is well, you can import your
messages from the old identity and delete it.

If none of these four possible fixes work, then I have nothing else
to offer you.

This is if you can ID my problem without having to go over stuff
that has been around for years. I have read and read and tried
fixes that worked and can try them again but I need to know from
someone that has had this happen what to do. It is easy to post a
generic answer in the form of a link that leads to 50 more links.
If someone knows what the problem is then that is the one that can
explain exactly what to do. Thanks.
