My friend and I both have the same version of Outlook Express (6.0).
However, in her Create New Message screen, her Toolbar is missing many of the very useful button options that I have. She does not have the Paper Clip or the Spell Check buttons in her toolbar. I checked the Customize Toolbar screen. The box on the right, (Current Toolbar Buttons) reflects that the Paper Clip Button and the Check Spelling button are current and therefore should be visible in the toolbar. Yet the buttons do not appear in the toolbar on the new message screen. I have tried "Resetting"" in the Customize Screen..The results were the same. I have also tried removing the buttons and moving them back into the "Current Toolbar Buttons" box.Nothing works. An additional problem is in the Formatting Bar. Many of the options are missing there also. She is able to set font, font size, font color etc. She does Not have the alignment bars or the Insert Photo icon. I have reviewed all of the settings in OE and they seem to be correct: Rich Text HTML) is checked, In View/Toolbars, the Standard Toolbar and Formatting Bar are both checked. Her computer is well maintained and updates are current. She has SP2 installed. To further complicate matters, my brother has the identical problem with OE as my friend. Shouldn't Version 6.0 be the same for everyone? I would be so grateful if someone could shed some light on this problem. Audrey |

First, make sure the buttons aren't off screen to the right. By the *Paper
clip* button, I assume you are referring to the Attach button? Because of the second part of the post referring to the Format Bar, this leads me to think that your friend may have a damaged identity. File | Identity | Add New Identity. Create a new one and test it. If all is well, you can import your messages from the old identity and delete it. Also, make sure everything is up to date via Windows Updates. -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "ajhale" wrote in message ...
