Default Shortcut to Newsreader

I used "C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /outnews to make a
shortcut to the OE Newsreader.
However, it always opens to the newsreader startpage and then you have to
click on "read news". Is there any way to make the shortcut bypass that
start page?
Thanks.

Default Shortcut to Newsreader

Hi darkrats,

You can try using a shortcut to a specific newsgroup to avoid the start page
if Outlook Express is your default news reader.

For a newsgroup shortcut enter the address of the newsgroup in the command
line for a new shortcut. XP will ask for the 'location.' Do this in the
following format:

news://server name/newsgroup name

Examples:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...msn.discussion
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...tlooke xpress

To create a shortcut to a group already subscribed to use a shorter command
that will work better if you have changed the server name to a friendly one.
The short form for a NNTP newsgroup address can pose a problem if you have
more than one server account. A group may open (or try to open) in an
account that is not desirable, since the short form checks the group name
against the lists of downloaded group names. If this happens use the longer
form of address (above) that identifies the server. Using Windows XP and IE6
the default news account is used. The first example may open a new 'account'
and not open the account as subscribed in Outlook Express. If this happens
use the short form.

Short News Link Examples:
news:microsoft.public.msn.discussion
news:microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_out lookexpress
