Default Opening messages in a separate window instead of the preview pane

Is there a convenient way to open Outlook Express messages in a separate
window instead of the preview pane?

Uncheck the Preview Pane. View | Layout.

Add a Preview button to your toolbar and click on it to disable Preview
pane.

It doesn't matter if you use the Preview pane. You have to tell the message
to open.
To open a message, right click, Open or double left click on a message.
Using the keyboard, Ctrl + U, Enter.
