Default Can't find Inbox.dbx

I am migrating files from a Dell Dimension 2350 to a MacBook and I can't
find the .dbx files. When I look at the properties of the Inbox file, OE
says it's in this file:

C:\Documents and Settings\Denise\Local Settings\Application
Data\Identities\{xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx}\Microsof t\Outlook
Express\Inbox.dbx. (The x's indicate a bunch of alpha characters and dashes
and numbers - I didn't want to specify the exact Identity for security
reasons. Don't know if that's an issue or not.)

But - when I got to Explorer, and look at C:\Documents and Settings\Denise\,
there is no "Local Settings" folder. I did a search of the entire computer
for *.dbx - twice! - and I couldn't find it.

OE came with the computer and Windows 2000 and it's now running XP.

Thank you,

In WindowsXP, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as
hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show Hidden
Files and Folders via Start Control Panel Folder Options View (cf.
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tuto...torial62.html).

NB: Don't assume that you'll be able to import or use the OE data on the
MacBook.

The files are hidden.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store Folder will reveal the location of
your Outlook Express files. Write the location down and navigate to it in
Windows Explorer.

In WinXP, Win2K & Win2K3, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default
marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable
Show Hidden Files and Folders under Start | Control Panel | Folder Options
Icon | View, or in Windows Explorer | Tools | Folder Options | View.

Sandy in SM,
Some system and the *.DBX files that OE uses are "hidden" by default.

On your Desktop Select My Computer TOOLS Folder Options View tab Scroll
down and Select Show Hidden files You should now be able to Browse to the
location of *.DBX files. Make sure that you include the Folders.DBX file.

1. Copy the folder containing the *.DBX files, to the MAC Do Not place them
inside the same folder that the MAC created for its *.DBX files.
2. If you used a CD or flash drive to transfer the files, you will need to
remove the "Read-Only" attribute for the files that the copy process to
CD/Flashdrive added to the files that you copied. You should be able to
just:
Right click the folder that you copied to the MAC Select Properties
Unselect "Read-Only" Properties.
3. Open the MAC's OE application FILE Import Messages Import from Message
Store Browse to the folder that you copied to the MAC, and you should be
able to then import your messages.
