We can receive but not send send email or forewards from one of our 3
identities. The other 2 work fine receiving and sending. Error message is: The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'bla bla @bla.net'. Subject 'test', Account: 'pop.bla.net', Server: 'smtp.bla.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '504 XXXXXX: Sender address rejected: need fully-qualified address', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 504, Error Number: 0x800CCC79 I have read some of the other posts and have compacted email files, deleted Outbox.dbx and Sent.dbx for this identity. Still can't send email.Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance |

Were you connected to the internet via bla.net ISP at the time?
Post the complete (verbose; verbatim) error message. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ Chas wrote: We can receive but not send send email or forewards from one of our 3 identities. The other 2 work fine receiving and sending. The error message says that the SMTP server does not recognize YOU as
being authorized to use it. Are all identities using the same e-mail servers and accounts? If so, you need to make sure that all the account settings are identical. Look in Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties. If this problem identity is for a different account, then compare you settings to what the mail service requires. Check the General tab to make sure that your full and correct e-mail is specified there. Also, many ISPs require that you be directly connected to their service (not via another ISP, corporate LAN, etc.) in order to send via their SMTP mail server. (They match your IP address against those owned by the service.) An exception is made for messages being sent to recipients of their service. The typical error message will be "Cannot Relay" or "Not Local" or "Not Gateway", "Not Allowed Rcpthost" or something similar. A workaround for this is to use the SMTP mail server of the service that you connect via, but leave your other settings the same. And for some mail services, the SMTP Authentication may be needed. In OE this is specified in Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties, Servers, Outgoing Mail Server, My Server Requires Authentication. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Chas" wrote in message ... In Outlook Express look at Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties, Servers.
Make sure that Outgoing Mail Server, My Server Requires Authentication. Also click the Settings button and make sure that the correct logon settings are specified If you still have problems, you may want to record an smtp.log which will show more details about outgoing mail. To create an SMTP.log In OE5+, go to Tools, Options, Maintenance, Troubleshooting, Mail You may need to close OE after doing the send for the log to get written to disk. The log will be in the Store Folder which is listed in Tools, Options, Maintenance, Store Folder. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Paul Lenz" wrote in message ... In Outlook Express [...] Nothing of that all! I found the mistake, it was in my server. I forgot that Exim4 does not use the login password for the server account but uses a special file /etc/exim4/passwd where I have to enter the authentification of every user who wants to send mails through my server.
