I import my e-mail from another address into outlook express. Any items that
go into my bulk folder show up in OE with [BULK] in front of it. I recently received one of these messages, and whenever I try to highlight it to delete it, OE freezes. Today, when trying to delete some new messages I received, they too won't delete. They don't freeze OE like the other message, but they will not delete. When I try dragging them into the deleted items folder I get the message "The selected messagee(s) could not be moved. An error has occured. Anyone know how I can delete these messages? |

Deleted Items is probably corrupt. In the off chance that you are keeping
messages you want to save in Deleted Items, (a garbage pail), move them to a local folder you create and then do the following. Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store Folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Press the Tab key to highlight the folder location, then Ctrl+C. Close OE, then Start | Run | Ctrl+V will put the location in the box - Click OK and you'll see the OE files. Otherwise, write the location down and navigate to it in Windows Explorer. In WinXP, Win2K & Win2K3, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show Hidden Files and Folders under Start | Control Panel | Folder Options Icon | View, or in Windows Explorer | Tools | Folder Options | View. With OE closed, find the DBX file for Deleted Items and delete it. A new one will be created automatically when you open OE. General precautions for Outlook Express: Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They will eventually become corrupt. Create your own user defined folders for storing mail and move your mail to them. Empty Deleted Items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 100MB, and Default folders as empty as is feasible. After you are done, follow up by compacting your folders manually while working *offline* and do it often. Click on Outlook Express at the top of the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work Offline (or double click Working Online in the Status Bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed. Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that eats up CPUs and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A/V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more, see: http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 In Tools | Options | Maintenance: Uncheck Compact messages in background and leave it unchecked. {N/A if running XP/SP2}. And backup often. Thanks Bruce, that worked for the additional e-mails that I was getting that
would not delete, however the original Bulk e-mail that I received that freezes OE still does that. "Bruce Hagen" wrote: Deleted Items is probably corrupt. As I mentioned Frank, I import my rogers.com e-mail into OE which has a Bulk
folder, the messages marked Bulk are from my Bulk folder in rogers. "Frank Saunders MS-MVP IE,OE/WM" wrote: "Leeshy" wrote in message ... I import my e-mail from another address into outlook express. Is this message in a user created folder with no other messages you wish to
save? If so, delete the folder completely as follows and then create a new one to replace it. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show Hidden Files and Folders under Start | Control Panel | Folder Options Icon | View, or in Windows Explorer | Tools | Folder Options | View. With OE closed, find the DBX file for the folder in question {.dbx} and delete it. Open OE. The folder and the offending message will be gone and now you can create a new replacement folder. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "Leeshy" wrote in message ... Do you have a separate set of rogers.com-specific folders in OE what are no
located under the Local folders tree? If not and there's an OE folder named "Bulk", where is it located in the folder tree? Is it named simply "Bulk"? -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ Leeshy wrote: As I mentioned Frank, I import my rogers.com e-mail into OE which has a Bulk folder, the messages marked Bulk are from my Bulk folder in rogers.
