Default OE+Hotmail issues.....

You can access the same account in OE on another computer or you can
access
a different account in OE on another computer?

I can access the SAME Hotmail account on OE on another machine at home and
on OE on another one at work

Is it a account or a account?

Is the machine fully patched at Windows Update?

Yes, I am told there are no high-priority updates available for me now.

What IE version are you using, IE6 or IE7?

I am using IE 6 and OE 6. (Like the other machines that work fine with it.)

Most of the time, the error indicates temporary problems on MSN/Hotmail's
end (despite what they may say). Here are some things you can check:
Make certain your time, date, and /time zone/ settings are correct.

Check, check & check.

IE ToolsInternet OptionsPrivacySites type in

hotmail.com
live.com

and Allow All Cookies for each domain.

Check.

Temporarily disable your firewall (BE CAREFUL! Enable the Windows Firewall
immediately after doing so!), any "system" tools (e.g., Trend Micro
Internet Security) and pop-up/ad blockers to see if they're interfering.

Check

If you use a router, you may need to adjust MTU values:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=315008

This appears to involve editing the registry....I'm gonna hold off on that
for now. ;-)

IE Tools Internet Options Advanced HTTP 1.1 toggle on/off; "Use
HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections" must *not* be checked.

Check

IE Tools Internet Options Security [zone in OE runs; should be
Restricted Sites] Custom Level User Authentication Logon toggle
between the setting choices here [All options EXCEPT 'Automatic logon only
in Intranet zone' work for me; currently 'Anonymous logon' is checked]

Check

Resetting either or both of the above Tabs to the defaults might help,
too.

Check

And.....Still get that same error message:

An unknown error has occurred. Account: 'Hotmail', Server:
'http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp', Protocol: HTTPMail,
Server Response: 'Redirect to partner', Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Error
Number: 0x80004005

I still believe that "Redirect to Partner" should be a clue...but I can't
find anything on it.

Any more suggestions? I'd appreciate them.

(I called Microsoft, and they offerred support for a fee$$$, since it's an
OEM machine/licence.)
