Default Outlook Express Says I Have Mail?

I hear the sound, the email icon in the tray comes up, but there's
nothing in my inbox. I don't understand whats going on. Using XP with
OE6.

Have you checked other folders? Blocked Senders, or a Message Rule that
diverts mail to another folder will result in the circumstance you describe.

You get the new mail notification any time OE downloads any messages.
This includes messages automatically deleted due to block senders
entries or any message rules, or messages automatically moved to other
folders due to message rules.
