Apologies, I blame mild dyslexia I meant 'obviate'. I'm heading towards the
simplest solution, change my mail provider. Goodbye NTL, hello googlemail. If in the message source you can see the encoded attachment but OE
doesn't indicate its presence, then there is likely something screwy with the message format. Most likely related to the boundary tags for the multipart/mixed content-type. For information on this see: ftp://ftp.isi.edu/in-notes/rfc2045.txt ftp://ftp.isi.edu/in-notes/rfc2046.txt The other possibility is that the attachment is named WINMAIL.DAT. This comes from Outlook97/98/2000+ using RTF format which Outlook express doesn't understand. In that case you will need a 3rd party program to access the attachment. For additional information, see the MS-TNEF WINMAIL.DAT Attachments section of Decoding Internet Attachments - A Tutorial http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_san...de.htm#ms-tnef -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Edzell" wrote in message ... No sign of Cloudmark on either of my pcs (both suffering the same missing
attachments problem in OE and Outlook). If I log into my ntl account via webmail, I can see the attachments (and download them). The problem only occurs when downloading emails from the server into OE / Outlook. I've emailed Cloudmark but no response - ntl have replied again but won't tell me which anti-spam they use (although they felt Cloudmark was a desktop application) "Michael Santovec" wrote: Check your PC to make sure that you aren't running cloudmark. If you are talking to the first level technical support at your ISP,
they typically don't know anything that isn't in the FAQ for the ISP. You may need to talk to second level support. You'll have to ask the first level to transfer you. If cloudmark isn't on your PC it would either have to be at the ISP or on some system that you connect through to get mail. I wouldn't expect it to be running on a router, but I suppose that's possible. I've heard of hardware firewalls offer anti-virus an anti-spam services. Are you sing anything like that? -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "macdoni93" wrote in message ... Mike - Thanks for staying with this.
Second level response at my ISP have gone silent - hopefully they'll come back with something. I have had a response from Cloudmark, and they are assessing the details of the problem - I'll keep you posted. I connect through a wireless router and then dircetly through my ntlworld cable modem - how would I check whether my router is running any sort of anti -spam? If the router were running any anti-spam software, the package would
probably have advertised that like these products http://www.barracudanetworks.com/ns/products/ Although they seem more aimed at larger networks and not home users. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "macdoni93" wrote in message ...
