Any thoughts on this...was at a mate's XP pc yesterday..we looked for dbx
files on his hard drive via Start/Search/All files and folders.../*.dbx. ....whilst this found some old dbx files...the current ones it didn't reveal. He only has one hard drive - drive C so first looked there then looked in My Computer to be sure, and have Show hidden files and folders tricked in Folder Options. Did eventually find them via Maintenance/Store folder...but intrigued as to why they didn't show in Search? Thanks. |

Am not on a XP right now, but I think one has to tell Search to look into
hidden files. Some Place in your 'Start/Search/All files and folders.../*.dbx', there should be an Advanced Options to select. Let me know. When using Explorer Search, you must enable the Advanced Option and the 3
options directly underneath it. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ John Brown wrote: Any thoughts on this...was at a mate's XP pc yesterday..we looked for dbx files on his hard drive via Start/Search/All files and folders.../*.dbx. ...whilst this found some old dbx files...the current ones it didn't reveal. Open windows explorer, click folder options, put the dot in "show hidden
files" then remove the check mark in "Hide protected etc files" Then go to documents and settings click on the administrator name, drill down to identities, further down to a long apphanumeric numter, look below it for Outlook Express, click that you will see a list of the dbx files in the right pane. The wont be there till you change the views. Be sure to put the views back when finished.
