How does OE save attachments and where? If I save an email that has an
attachment, the attachment is saved, but where? If I first save the
attachment to a file on my hard disc and then save the attachment, is the
attachment saved twice (using twice the memory space)?

How can one delete the attachments without deleting the email itself?

embedded in the email as a mime encode, in the .dbx file for the identity
and folder

Yes, using far more than twice the disk space, mime encoding is inefficient

Attachments stay will the email.
An attachment saved to the hard drive uses the actual file size.
To be sent as an attachment, a file has to be encode as text which adds 30 %
to the file size.
So you aren't using twice the space, because the file is no longer encoded.

This program will remove attachments.
