XP smoker is a program which helps tweak the performance of XP. I read in
another entry in this chat room of someone who was having the same problem as
I have and this apparently helped him fix it. I tried it and it did nothing
so I uninstalled it. Is it as simple as having to reinstall XP??? As i
mentioned earlier, i was going to do this but a message came up that the
version on my system is a newer version than the one I am trying to
install???? ....which i don't understand at all!

Have you read Robert's reply? With everything you have done, it remains a
*size* issue which is probably something to be taken up with your ISP. If
you are not using e-mail scanning, that is the only possibility I can think
of.
