If you start Outlook Express (which is different from Outlook) and later get a window requesting a password, this is probably for one of your email accounts. These are configured via /OE / Tools /Accounts. -- Don Phillipson Carlsbad Springs (Ottawa, Canada) |

I am seeing this very same thing. From a Vista Business computer trying to
open a mailbox with Outlook 2003, which worked until yesterday, I keep getting a "Connect to servername" window (authentication window) requesting user name and password information for the Exchange (5.5) server. The correct information is entered but ignored and the authentication window is re-displayed. I cannot add another profile for the exchange mailbox due to receiving the same authentication window. IP and NetBios setting are fine (as stated this worked until yesterday), can ping the server by ip address and netbios name. Can do a net use to the servers ipc$ no problem, just cannot get authenticated. I cannot find any errors in the event logs of the client or server about this. Any ideas? Thanks. Well, my bad I guess... funny thing though, I found this by following that
link. At any rate I was able to find something elsewhere that seems to work, here is a snippet: Start, All Programs, Administrative Tools, Local Security Policy, Local Policies, Security Options, Network Security, select "Lan Manager authentication level", change it to "Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated". Thanks for the prompt reply and sorry for nit being attentive enough to realize this was an Outlook Express forum thread. YW. I would have helped you if I could, but I have never had the pleasure of
using MS Outlook. Thanks for posting what you found though. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "DWL" wrote in message ...
