Default Issues with Outlook express

When I open my outlook express everyday I get the error message saying

"Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this inclue server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Account: 'pop.gmail.com(1)', Server: '127.0.01',protocol:POP3,
Port: 110, Secure(ssl): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F."

After that I go in and change my mails server to pop.gmail.com

Then I get an error message of

"The connection to the server has failed. Account:'pop.gmail.com (1)',
Server: 'pop.gmail.com', Protocol: POP3, Port:110, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket
Error: 10060, Error Number:0x800CCC0E"

When I get that I go in and change the server numbers. I have to do this
every day, the changes are not saving, is there anyway to fix this
permanently?

Thank you in advance for the help!

Troubleshooting error messages that you receive when you are using OL and OE
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/813514

Disable email scanning by your anti-virus application. It provides no
additional protection and even Symantec says it's not necessary:

QP
Disabling Email Scanning does not leave you unprotected against viruses that
are distributed as email attachments. Norton AntiVirus Auto-Protect scans
incoming files as they are saved to your hard drive, including email and
email attachments. Email Scanning is just another layer on top of this. To
make sure that Auto-Protect is providing the maximum protection, keep
Auto-Protect enabled and run LiveUpdate regularly to ensure that you have
the most recent virus definitions.

Your Anti-virus (or anti-spam) software changes the POP3 server name to
127.0.0.1 in order to scan the e-mail as it downloads. If this prevents
you from downloading mail, then that software is malfunctioning. Check
with that software manufacturer for update or configuration help, or
disable that software from scanning e-mail.

As long as your anti-virus software is set to scan files as they are
opened, scanning e-mail as it downloads or sends is unnecessary and
prone to problems.

With some anti-virus (and anti-spam) programs, simply disabling the
e-mail scanning function doesn't really disable it. It simply tells the
program not to flag any messages. It still processes all the messages
and may still cause send/receive failures. What you may need to do is
uninstall the anti-virus program, then reinstall it using a custom
install option and unselect the e-mail scanning component for
installation.
