How long has it been since you compacted your message store folder? How
large are the individual DBX files in your message store folder? It sounds like a problem with a message store folder that is corrupted. You say you've confirmed various suggestions from web sites but give us no clue as to what you may have done. Want to provide some added info so that we can perhaps be of more help? -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. Jim I am not sure whay you mean by the Message Store, I do compact the
folders each week. As for checking I have been into the outlook express site and verified the downloads have been carried out. Also one other suggestion from the Microsoft page was make sure you have XP installed with SP2, plus all updates this has been done. -- Fridgeman "Jim Pickering" wrote: How long has it been since you compacted your message store folder? If the error was with inetcomm.dll as you indicated in your reply to Mike,
see this info: First, try this: Go to start/Run, and type regsvr32 inetcomm.dll and wait for a notification of completion. Then reboot and see if it's fixed. If no help, then try replacing inetcomm.dll as it may be corrupted: Try a rename of the existing inetcomm.dll to inetcomm.old and then extract a new copy from the mailnews.cab in your c:\windows update setup files folder. Extract the copy to your c:\windows\system folder. After that go to Start/Run ~ type regsvr32 inetcomm.dll and wait for message of completion. Then reboot and see if the problem is fixed. -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. HI Jim,
Followed your instructions dialog box as follows "DllRegister Server in inetcomm succeeded". I assume that means the file is okay. -- Fridgeman "Jim Pickering" wrote: If the error was with inetcomm.dll as you indicated in your reply to Mike, see this info: First, try this: Go to start/Run, and type regsvr32 inetcomm.dll and wait for a notification of completion. Yes, the re-registration was successful, but if you continue to have similar
problems, it's possible that the copy you are using may be corrupted. That's why I also suggested you might want to extract a clean copy to replace it. -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 "Fridgeman" wrote in message ... Jim
As I mentioned in my last memo the first part of you email worked ok. I am having trouble with the second part. I am getting down to the limit of my computer knowledge. Where do I change the inetcomm.old also I cannot find the c:\windows\update setup files folder. or the mailnews.cab. I am afraid I need a little more detailed help. If all is working with the re-registration of inetcomm.dll as you indicated
it was, do nothing more at this time. If at some future date, you need to rename inetcomm.dll, do a Search for it and rename it when found. Then from the Start/Run line, run MSCONFIG and use its "Expand File" button to extract a new copy of inetcomm.dll - but for now, don't do anything. -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. It's important to know the Details. When you get an "Illegal Operation"
or "encountered a problem" message, there is usually a Details button (In WinME press Alt/D), or a "click here" link to see the error report. When you click on the button/link, it will give a message like: XXXX caused an error in YYYY and a bunch of register nonsense or it will list the Appname XXXX and Modname YYYY. The XXXX and YYYY are important to identify the cause and solution. You can ignore the rest of the message. Also include what specifically you were doing when the error occurred. You mention is happens when "accessing email messages". Does that mean as they download, or when you try to view them? In the latter case, does it happen in all mail folders or only some? Does it happen to all messages or only some? -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Fridgeman" wrote in message ... Michael, The info you asked about in the dialog box.
App Name--msimn.exe. Ver 6.0 2800 1106. Mod name--inetcomm.dll. Ver 6.0 2900 2670. It happens mostly when I am trying to view them. I most cases it is when there is a picture of some kind in the message. The last time it happened I had my wife send me an email with a picture, it came through okay -- Fridgeman "Michael Santovec" wrote: It's important to know the Details.
