Default moving "sent" letters to a new folder around messes everything up

Hey Fellas:

Remember you guys tried to help me when all my sent letters were deleted
from the sent messages file of my non-paid accounts in OE after 30 days.

The advice then was "move the sent messages to another folder".

Well, I did. I created another file called "old sent messages" and went to
"move folder" option and transferred them to the new file so they wouldn't
get deleted. I also went to my one paid account that has nearly 1000 sent
messages and moved those also so as to free up some room on the server.

Yeah, well, now...now, all the letters show up in the new folder as unread
and the "to" part is not there nor is it an option in the columns drop down.
Not knowing who and what I sent these letters to is a huge disadvantage as
now each letter needs to be opened one by one, which will take hours and
hours and hours.

I wasn't warned about this particular hassle. Is there something I can do
to make the sent letters look as they used to be before I moved them to a
new folder?

Really, Eudora and other options are also looking good. The reason I
haven't switched long ago is because of the amazing help one gets in this
newsgroup.

Thanks in advance (again)

You have two options:
add a To field to the created folder.
This will add a to field to the Inbox and other folders.
Just put the To column to the right.

Create an archive Identity.
Import the old messages to the archive Identity.

Thanks for replying, Ron.

There is nothing that I can find in the "help" for OE that tells how to ADD
a "to" field. One must check an already existant box and none exists to
offer a "to" field for the folder I've created.

I have created an identity but moving the letters--which now no longer have
a "to" field on them--to that new identity will not automatically add a "to"
field will it?

Unless anyone has a better idea, I may try this whenever I get some "free"
(ha ha) time.

To change the columns displayed in the message list
On the View menu, click Columns.
To add a column, select the check box next to the column name, or select the
column name and click Show.
To remove a column, clear the check box next to the column name, or select
the column name and click Hide.
To change the order in which columns appear, select a column name, and then
click Move Up or Move Down.

The To field information is a part of each message.
You are just not seeing it.

I created another [folder] called "old sent messages"

Is the folder located under Local folders or Hotmail folders in the OE
Folder tree (View Layout Folders)?

..."move folder" option

Do you mean the "Move to folder" option?

In the "Help" index, look for: "columns in the message list, changing".
What you want to do is add a column with the "To:" heading. The Help file
does explain how to do it.
