Suddenly my OE will not open or save any attachments. I tried removing the
check in security option re "preventing opening dangerous . . . etc". That didn't help. Have same virus, privacy and firewall software on this and another networked computer . . . only this one affected. Sound familiar to anyone?? Only thing I can think I did recently was download latest WINDOWS "Defender" Beta. Bobk |

Is this all types of attachments or just some?
Do you get any warning or error messages? If you click on the paper clip in the preview pane, are the file names faded out? -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Bobk" wrote in message news ![]() Suddenly my OE will not open or save any attachments. Michael,
It's all attachments and they don't fade out. I solved the problem by uninstalling WINDOWS DEFENDER. I've since noticed on the discussion groups that other people are having problems with DEFENDER. -- Bobk "Michael Santovec" wrote: Is this all types of attachments or just some? Windows Defender Beta2 makes opening OE attachments slower but it doesn't
stop you from opening or saving them. Address your OE maintenance routine (or lack thereof): - Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local folders created for this purpose. - Empty Deleted Items folder daily. - Disable Background Compacting [N/A in SP2] and frequently perform a manual compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm. - Do not attempt to close OE via Task Manager or shutdown your machine if Automatic Compacting is taking place (WinXP SP2 only). - Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE/OE, Shell/User, Security), Aumha.org VSOP, DTS-L.org Bobk wrote: Michael, It's all attachments and they don't fade out.
