I have already posted this to my ISP (zen), but thought this group might
help. Problem: ******** I am moving my mail from this computer to another. Both are on XP PRO and I have succesfully transferred messages and have set up the new computer exactly as this one but I can't get it to work. I have examined the original instructions you gave with passwords etc. and I cannot see anything wrong. When I try to receive mail I get: The server responded with an error. Account: 'Mailhost.zen.co.uk', Server: 'Mailhost.zen.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR AVG POP3 Proxy Server: Cannot connect to the mail server!', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC90 The server responded with an error. I have gone to a lot of work to transfer and I would not like to go back. Since then, I find there is no problem SENDING emails. I have tried everything to delete OE completely, through "Add/remove windows components" and from Explorer but to no avail. When using Explorer I am getting the message that someone/some program is using OE. I have emptied my system tray and deleted VSmon.exe (zoneAlarm) and still can't clear it. If I could find a way to delete OE completely, I am quite happy to start from scratch as I have safeguarded the messages folder. On recollecting, I think I know how this problem may have arisen. A few nights back when I was downloading software, I got a failure which invited me to send an email. Unusually it had to go through my email system and I think I quoted the in and out servers as POP3 rather than mailhost.zen.co.uk. There was something that wasn't right anyway. Is it possible that some program somewhere is holding on to OE? This is why I am happy to start from scratch if I could get rid of the present OE. Thanks PS I have just successfully used OE in my Media Center without problem. These computers are all set up the same way. |
