Default Cannot Send Email

Hello,

My coworker has is running Outlook Express 6 on a Windows 98SE processor. In
the last hour he has not been able to send email although he can receive.
Our ISP is verizon, but none of us are having this problem. The error
message just said " some errors have occured. cannot send mail"

Does anyone have any suggestions?
We have tried to change his outgoing mail server name to smtp.verizon.net
and smtpauth.verizon.net to no avail.
We also deleted a bunch of old mail.

We would very much appreciate anyone's help.

Thanks,
Jen

Neither of the servers you mention are valid:

| 02/28/06 15:52:37 dns smtp.verizon.net
| No DNS for this address
| (host doesn't exist)

| 02/28/06 15:52:45 dns smtpauth.verizon.net
| No DNS for this address
| (host doesn't exist)

The proper SMTP server for Verizon On-Line is, 'outgoing.verizon.net'. The
proper SMTP server for Verizon Yahoo! is, 'outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net'. I
don't recall the Verizon MSN SMTP servers being mentioned.

Those servers I listed require authentication. Check with Verizon for
details.

http://netservices.verizon.net/porta...sp?case=c14488

The error message is an odd one. I would have expected something like this:

| The host 'smtp.verizon.net' could not be found. Please verify that you
| have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'None', Server:
| 'smtp.verizon.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket
| Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

The 'smtpath.verizon.net' server gives the same error message.
