Default Links have gone dead

Hi, I have been using OE for most of the day, after a break midday I
found that any links to pages/sites etc that are in my incoming email or
newsgroup messages or individual sites have gone dead. I have had to copy
the shortcuts and open IE separately and paste the links in .
Can anyone think what may have happened and know how to change it back. I
cant remember doing anything that would cause this.
Thanks
Hotfoot

Default Links have gone dead

Have you rebooted and tried? Otherwise:

Hyperlinks do not work in Outlook Express after you upgrade to Internet
Explorer 7:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929867

If still no joy, for IE6 & IE7:

From:
http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/nolinks.htm

If nothing happens when you click a link:
Open Windows Explorer, or the Control Panel.
Go to Tools | Folder Options | File Types.
Scroll down to [NONE] URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol (NOT URL:Internet
Shortcut) and select it.
Click Edit or Advanced, depending on your Windows version.
Select 'open'.
Click Edit.

"Application used to perform this action" should read:

"C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome (Check the path to
iexplore.exe to make sure that is correct and use the double quotes.)

DDE should be checked and in the boxes below it you should have:

#1:
"%1",,-1,0,,,,
#2
IExplore
#3 (blank)

#4
WWW_OpenURL

URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy should be the same.

Sometimes it is necessary to uncheck Use DDE.

Default Links have gone dead

Hi Bruce, I did follow through what you suggested this morning but things
stayed the same,
but, every time I tried out a link I noticed in my peripheral vision a
momentary flash sighting of a little yellow/orange box outline. I
investigated and found that I had a "popup blocker" program opening
whenever I tried a link. Don't know where it came from, will have to check
my protection. Removed popup program and off we go, links active again.
My eyes where definitely not seeing this last night, just shows how tired
your eyes can get from too many hours at the screen.

thanks for your input,
Hotfoot.
