I got this error message when trying to post to newsgroups on Onetel news
server, any idea how i resolve it?

Outlook Express could not post your message. Subject 'Subject', Account:
'news.onetel.net.uk', Server: 'news.onetel.net.uk', Protocol: NNTP, Port:
119, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800C006F

Are you getting timeouts also? Are these large messages (i.e., more than
70-100KB)? Have you contacted the news server? Can you connect to the news
server using telnet?

Attempts to telnet from here (US) only provide a reverse DNS error message
so it's possible they may be blacklisted by some providers.

I also get the message that the NNTP server has not responded in 60 seconds
and asking me whether I want to stop or wait. As for the size of the
message it is just a small text posting with only a few lines of text.

I can download headers and messages and groups from the server so I am able
to connect to the server in that way, just have the problem posting. I can
Ping the server with no problem, I don't know about Telnet but I presume
this wouldn't prove give any further clues?

The server is with my ISP so I contacted them but so far they have been
unhelpful saying they don't provide support to the newsgroup service! I
think this also answers your question about blacklisting as I am connecting
through their service also.

Any other thoughts?

No other ideas but it's not uncommon for problems to come and go with news
servers. Most news servers "slurp" messages from larger servers and do so
on an irregular basis, so it's often possible to see different information
for the identical newsgroup when looking at it using different news servers.
Hopefully, your problem will soon clear up.

If not, contact your ISP again and ask if they require authentication to
post messages. You can find the info about that setting under
Tools/Accounts - News tab for the particular server by clicking on the
Server tab and filling out the logging information.
