Hello group,
My mom complained about that when he connected to the internet by dial up connection the typical tone was gone; although the internet is properly connected by the same means. SHe checked the PC sound system and its still run normally. I would like to know how did the dial up connection tone vanish? Does it have to do with the ISP provider changing or making the connection silent or its the fault of the PC? TIA Roy |

Start | Settings | Control Panel | Phone and Modem | Modems | [select the modem used | Properties | Modem (or Advanced) | Speaker Volume (turn it on). If no joy, her speakers or Sound may be out of whack. See if you hear the tone through headphones. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ |

Does the modem volume reset by itself...? |
