I can change the font size in the formatting toolbar but when I type the
first letter it reverts to size 12. I've tried formatting the font size and most things I can think of to no avail. Is there some way to clear the locked font size? -- Rob153 |

Make sure you are composing with no stationery. Some stationery sets the
font size globally and prevents you from changing it. steve "Rob153" wrote in message ... I can change the font size in the formatting toolbar but when I type the first letter it reverts to size 12. After cleaning out the stationery I found the font size to work every time.
Thank you for your suggestion. -- Rob153 "Steve Cochran" wrote: Well, try creating a stationery then that sets the font size and compose with that stationery. For instance, copy this into Notepad and then save it as htm file and set that as the stationery with which to compose: HTML BODY style="font-size: 9pt" /BODY /HTML See if that works. If it does, then you can add various other features to the stationery if you want. cheers, steve "Patsz" wrote in message ... Hi, I have had the same trouble for some time and have tried everything I can think of, but that font still reverts to size 12. I did learn, however, that if I go to Internet ExToolsOptionsAccessibility, then uncheck the third formatting option (about font sizes on Internet)ckick applyok. Then go back to Outlook Ex.... I can change the size and it will remain changed. However, then the font sizes on Internet pages are too small. So this is not an acceptable option. I hope someone has a better answer. I know of two other people who have this problem. Patsz -- Patsz "Rob153" wrote: I can change the font size in the formatting toolbar but when I type the first letter it reverts to size 12. Always include previous messages in your replies. I, for one, don't keep any
post more than ten days old, and some even less. With that in mind, I have no idea what you have tried so far. Tools | Options | Compose. Is *anything* checked in the Stationery section? Have you tried a new identity? File | Identity | Add New Identity. Create a new one and test it. If all is well, you can import your messages from the old identity and delete it. In OE: Tools | Options | Read | Fonts. Choose: Western European (ISO). Clear the Temporary Internet Files. In IE | Tools | Internet Options | Delete Files button. And check the box to Delete Offline content. I HAVE READ SOME OF THE SUGGESTED LINKS. HOWEVER, THERE IS STILL ONE
PROBLEM...IF I UNCHECK "IGNORE FONT SIZES ON WEB PAGES" ( IN IE, TOOLS, OPTIONS, ASSESS.) THEN THE FONTS ARE TOO SMALL ON THE PAGES THAT I USE MOST. CHANGING THE FONT SIZE IN IE BY USING VIEW TEXT SIZE DOES NOT SEEM TO CHANGE THE SIZE. SO IT SEEMS IT IS A TOSS-UP...HAVE THE TEXT THE PROPER SIZE I IE OR BE ABLE TO CHANGE THE FONT SIZE IN OE. -- Patsz "Jim Pickering" wrote: Check the suggestions at these links: OLEXP: The Font Size Changes When You Press ENTER in a New Message: http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q232001 OLEXP: Default Font Size Is Not Applied in a New HTML E-mail Message: http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q240730 OLEXP: Large or Small Font Printing Message from Outlook Express: http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q276435 OLEXP: Cannot Change Text Format Using Outlook Express: http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q178895 OLEXP: Large Font Printing Message from Outlook Express: http://support.microsoft.com/default...;EN-US;q276435 -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. Please turn off your CAPS Lock key. Posting in all upper case is considered
rude, to the point of shouting. It may cause messages to be ignored for an assumed lack of politeness. A simple workaround for your problem would be uncheck the "ignore font size" and then invest in a mouse with a scrolling wheel. Once you have one installed, click on the page you wish to view, and then hold the Ctrl key and move the scrolling wheel. The text will change size rapidly and then the change can be easily reversed. Otherwise, you may just have to learn to live with the problem since I don't think it will be fixed in Windows in the future. Sorry. -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. Thanks. Unfortunately, this often fails to work. When web pages are coded for text in fixed sizes, the mouse wheel technique has no effect on the display, nor does using View Text Size. The only thing that works is checking "ignore font size" -- or switchings to Firefox. The advent of style sheets has lead to an astonishing number of web pages that are ugly and difficult to view unless you have exactly the same equipment and settings as the creator of the page. In a perfect would it would be illegal to specify font sizes in pixels. -- Gary L. Smith Columbus, Ohio |
